Shutesbury Select Board places 32 articles on May 9 Town Meeting warrant

SHUTESBURY — April 8, 2026 — Shutesbury Select Board unanimously approved all 32 articles for the May 9 Annual Town Meeting warrant at its April 8 meeting. Chair Reta Farrell and members Eric Stocker and Makis O'Neil cast identical aye votes on each article in a series of rapid roll-call actions, but paused on Article 24 — a proposed zoning bylaw amendment related to data centers — voting to approve its current language only pending further review by the Planning Board and Town Administrator Donna after concerns were raised that the article identifies where zoning sections would change without explaining what changes are proposed. The Planning Board meets April 13, and the Select Board indicated it would revisit the article April 14. The board also caught a sponsorship attribution error that incorrectly listed the Select Board as the proponent of a fire truck capital purchase, directing staff to reassign that to the Fire Department or Capital Planning Committee, and separately discussed the need to appoint a deputy constable to post the warrant at least one week before town meeting.
