Shutesbury Select Board voted 2-0 to declare a Leonard Road dog "dangerous" after three attacks on a neighbor's dog since early spring. Chair Melissa Makepeace O'Neil and Vice Chair Eric Stocker, with member Jim Walton absent, ordered owner Kristen Maddox to muzzle and restrain her dog Roxy at all times, license her within a week, and submit a written safety plan by October 27, while routing a $200 outstanding veterinary bill to neighbor Christine Marglin through the town administrator. Animal Control Officer Kyle Dragon testified the dog was vaccinated but unlicensed at the time of the incidents.
Stocker said he worried "the next time it'll be worse," citing risk to children. Separately, the board voted to ask the state Department of Environmental Protection to investigate an April fire at the Wheelock Track solar site, after abutters said they spent $2,500 testing their well for contamination.
