Library Trustees Begin Rewriting 2008 Privacy Policy
Shutesbury Library Trustees opened talks on making the library an official town warming and cooling center.
Library Trustees · Meeting of October 19, 2026
Shutesbury Library Trustees opened talks on making the library an official town warming and cooling center. Library Director Marianne told trustees the Council on Aging wants a formal protocol after the library sat closed during a near-100-degree Fourth of July weekend while the town's only staffed cooling center, in the Town Hall basement, went largely unused. Trustees agreed to build a cost estimate, roughly two days a month at four hours each, into the library's upcoming budget request, with a trustee volunteering to draft the written protocol.
Trustees also voted 3-0 and 4-0 by roll call to approve September and March 2026 minutes, and began line-by-line revisions to a 2008 confidentiality and privacy policy, striking outdated references to the USA Patriot Act.
