Finance Committee · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Shutesbury Finance Committee advances fall warrant, declines to back two tax-bill fundraising articles. The committee voted unanimously to recommend paying $5,000 to the Pioneer Valley Mosquito Control District and $238.40 to a debt collector for a lapsed Alert 360 alarm bill, both from the town's roughly $112,185 stabilization fund. Members also endorsed a new 3 percent community impact fee on short-term rental turnover and a capped special education reserve fund, though member George warned its $55,000 ceiling "you can wipe out in one year with one out-placement." Town Collector Molly called a proposed tax-bill donation checkoff "getting very, very complicated," and the committee declined to recommend it.
The panel also backed accepting a bequeathed Cooleyville Road property and returning $10,000 in surplus conservation grant funds.
