Board of Health · Meeting of October 7, 2026

SHUTESBURY — The Shutesbury Board of Health approved a septic system upgrade on Wyola Drive and agreed to phase in higher hauler and installer license fees. Administrative Consultant Catherine Hilton led the meeting, with members Arleen Read, Claire and Wim Levine voting 3-0 to approve both the September minutes and the septic plan for a property owned by Karen Marigan. The board agreed hauler and installer licenses, unchanged since 2018 at $50 annually, should rise to $100 in 2027 and $150 in 2028, after Hilton cited a contractor, Mrs.

Clark, who said Shutesbury charges far less than neighboring towns. Hilton called the $150 figure "pretty reasonable" given rising costs elsewhere. The board left its $50 title five inspection fee and discretionary public-records fee unchanged, noting the latter "is not going to dissuade anyone who's hell-bent on harassment" in rare cases, and tabled formal adoption of the full fee schedule until its October 21 meeting pending comparison data from other towns.
