SHUTESBURY — The Shutesbury Conservation Commission ratified two emergency road repair certifications and approved a deck permit at its August 27 meeting. Chair Beth Willson reported that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is reviewing an appeal of the commission's order for 36 South Laurel Street, requesting septic records from the Board of Health. Commissioners unanimously ratified a MassDOT emergency certification for a washed-out swale on Route 202, 5-0, and a Shutesbury Highway Department certification to replace a crushed 15-inch culvert on Pratt Corner Road by September 19, also 5-0.
Member Scott Kahan said the commission hopes to soon file a notice of intent for trail reroutes at the Southbrook Conservation Area, calling the contractor's proposed layout "really great." The commission also approved, 4-0, a small project permit for a deck replacement at 74 Pratt Corner Road.
