Panel presses GZA to revisit King Road drainage
Shutesbury's Stormwater Mitigation and Implementation Committee asked its engineering consultant to revisit drainage problems on King Road and Locks Pond Road near Lake Wyola.
Stormwater Mitigation and Implementation Committee · Meeting of October 7, 2026
Shutesbury's Stormwater Mitigation and Implementation Committee asked its engineering consultant to revisit drainage problems on King Road and Locks Pond Road near Lake Wyola. Members Jim Moore and Stephen Sullivan said the firm, GZA, skipped a known erosion site where the Lake Wyola Association has twice trucked in fill to keep the road passable. Sullivan disputed a separate geomorphology study's finding that a Lakeview Drive culvert is undersized, saying, "I personally don't believe that it's undersized...
I think it's just right." The panel also weighed whether to ask the Lake Wyola Association to revisit converting the abandoned Watson Straits road to conservation land, and noted the Select Board recently froze road modifications near the lake until GZA's final report arrives in spring. The committee approved its prior minutes unanimously and set its next meeting for November 12.
